How the map is dated

Dating

Every building in the official UrbIS 3D model is given a year of appearance. About 22,000 dates come straight from the architectural heritage inventory, matched by address, and a dozen landmark buildings (Horta's houses, Stoclet Palace…) are dated one by one. The rest are estimated from historical urban extents: the first wall, the Pentagon, the Ferraris (1777) and Vandermaelen (c. 1850) maps, and the IGN built-up areas of 1873, 1939 and 1969. Dates are indicative at the scale of a neighbourhood, not of an address.
