How the Atlas is funded
What is paid for, and what is not
The Atlas of Brussels is free and carries no advertising. To last, it has four possible sources of income. Each is flagged wherever it appears.
Affiliate links
Some booking links (tickets, guided tours, accommodation) are affiliate links: if you book through one, the Atlas earns a commission, at no extra cost to you. Each carries the words 'affiliate link'. The link to a place's official website is never an affiliate link.
Partner places
A business can pay to have its page in the guide. It then carries the 'Partner' badge, on the page, in the lists and on the map.
Module for agencies and path for schools
The 'age of the building' module may be offered to estate agencies in a paid version. The path for schools is free.
What does not change
- The places recommended by dish come from guides and news outlets named next to each place: none can be bought.
- Every practical detail states its source and the date it was checked; unconfirmed information is not shown.
- The site sets no advertising cookies and contains no trackers. The game and the map store their settings on your device only. A TikTok video is only loaded when you click on it. The typefaces and scripts are served by the site itself: a visit sends nothing to a third-party service.
- The images to share and the posters are made on your device: nothing is uploaded.
