Charles Plisnier (1896-1952) docteur en droit, écrivain et militant, il adhère au Parti Communiste en 1921. En 1937 il reçoit le prix Goncourt pour son roman « Mariages » et son recueil de nouvelles « Faux-passeports ». C'est la première fois que ce prix est décerné à un écrivain non Français. Après s'être détourné du communisme,il est élu à l’Académie royale de Langue et de Littérature françaises et fonde l'hebdomadaire Alerte, pour créer dans l'opinion un mouvement anti-neutraliste en Belgique (1939). Depuis 1959, le Prix littéraire Charles Plisnier récompense chaque année un écrivain belge. (remark in French, as published)
