Cet axe tracé sur un terrain marécageux qui appartenait à la propriété Coghen. Financier important, le comte Jacques-André Coghen (1791-1858) a été sénateur et Ministre des Finances du premier gouvernement mis en place par Léopold I. Il habitait le château de Wolvendael.
