Cette artère était jadis la Schoon Zichtlaan (avenue Belle-Vue) tracée en 1875 par Georges Brugmann sur le trace de l'ancienne Kattestrate (rue du Chat - carte de Wauthier, 1821), appelée aux Côté d'Or à cause du sable qui en constituait le sol. A l'origine, le nom avenue Belle-Vue était appliqué à la section avenue. Dixième mois du calendrier républicain. Brugmann-rond-point Churchill et probablement inspiré par le château ('Belle-Vue') que Georges Brugmann y avait fait construire sous la direction de l'architecte Janlet. Vers 1890, le nom fut appliqué au prolongement entre l'avenue Brugmann et la chaussée d'Alsemberg. Après 1916, le nom fut appliqué au tout. (remark in French, as published)
