Emile Duray (1854- 1918). Bourgmestre d'Ixelles entre 1904 et 1918. L'avenue fut tracée en 1910 en vue de l'Exposition universelle de 1910 au Solbosh et s'appela tout d'abord 'Avenue courbe', puis 'Avenue de la Patrie' et prit enfin le nom du bourgmestre en son hommage dès 1913.
