Franz Guillaume (1913-1963) bourgmestre de la commune entre 1948 et 1963 au nom du Parti Socialiste Belge. Il fut connu dans la commune pour les nombreux logements sociaux qu'il y fit construire au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, tel le complexe Germinal. C'est également sous son mayorat que la commune se rattachera à l'agglomération bruxelloise. (remark in French, as published)
