Chantal Coché (1826-1911) en 1852 fit l'acquisition de ce tronçon et le nomma selon un membre de sa famille. La famille Coché était propriétaire d'une manufacture de porcelaine qui connut un essor considérable. D'autres avenues furent ouvertes à l'inititive, privée, de la Veuve Chantal Coché, telles les avenues Maurice, des Courses et Ernestine à Ixelles. L'avenue Jeanne fut établie en 1892.
