Artère dénommée initialement avenue Orban - Van Valxem en 1908, du nom de la famille propriétaire de la 'Société d'Entreprises de Stockel', chargée de l'édification de cette avenue. Pour éviter toute confusion, à la demande de la commune de Forest - où se trouve une avenue Van Colxem - l'artère est débaptisée en 1920 en avenue Orban (remark in French, as published)
