Léon Stienon (1850-1949) était médecin et professeur à l'ULB. L'avenue se situe à proximité de hôpital Brugmann. 'À l’instar d’autres artères proches de ce dernier, la dénomination de l’avenue, attribuée par arrêté du Collège de la Ville de Bruxelles du 15.01.1935, rend hommage à un médecin, Léon Stiénon (1850-1949), qui fut professeur à l’Université libre de Bruxelles.' urban (remark in French, as published)
