Léon Vandromme (1886-1914) était originaire de Flandres Occidentale, et était traminot à Bruxelles. Il fut réquisitionné et tué lors de la Première Guerre mondiale, laissant son épouse et son fils de 1 ans à Auderghem. Son fils, Lucien Vandromme (1913-1940) fut également réquisitionné et tué environ au même âge que son père mais lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, au Limbourg, le jour de la déclaration de Guerre (le 10 mai 1940). Cette rue rend hommage à la famille victime des deux Guerres. Le 22/12/1950, l'Avenue Léon Vandromme devient l'avenue Vandromme pour rendre hommage au père et au fils.
