A l'origine appelé Boulevard des Ponts et Chaussée, puis Boulevard militaire étant donné la fonctionnalité précise de l'axe (relier l'avenue Louise aux casernes militaires), ce boulevard prit finalement le nom de Général Jacques en 1918. Le Général Jules Marie Jacques (1858-1918) s'étant illustré durant les batailles de Sart-Tillemans, de Haecht et de Dixmude entre autres, il fut honoré à sa mort via l'attribution de ce toponyme. Il a également participé activement aux projets coloniaux de Leopold II. (remark in French, as published)
