Cette Chaussée s'appelait autrefois la 'Colcstraat' puis 'Kolleken' avant d'apparaître finalement sous son nom actuel a la fin du XIXe siècle. Le toponyme initial faisait allusion à la nature humide de la chaussée, 'kolleken' désignait en effet un 'pli de terrain rempli d'eau'. Finalement le nom retenu fait bien évidemment allusion à la commune reliée grâce à cette voie à Ixelles. (remark in French, as published)
