La drève porte ce nom depuis 1786. Le caporal est le grade le plus inférieur existant dans l'institution militaire. Il existe aussi chez les corps de pompiers et de protection civile. Si cette drève a effectivement été nommée ainsi en 1786, il se pourrait que cela soit uniquement dû à la présence d'un caporal dans le périmètre. Si elle a été nommée ainsi plus tard, il se pourrait que cela fasse référence à Napoléon, qui était surnommé le 'Petit caporal' par ses troupes. La drève se trouve effectivement à proximité du quartier à thème sur la bataille de Waterloo. (remark in French, as published)
