La rue fut nommée en hommage à Damien Bourg, colonel luxembourgeois (1870-1931). Il s'engagea rapidement dans l'armée belge (1887) et grimpa les échelons hiérarchiques pour devenir capitaine commandant à la veille de la Première Guerre mondiale.
