Deux interprétations existent sur ce toponyme. Pour les uns, c'est suite à la proximité de la rue des trois rois qui fait penser aux Rois mages alors qu'en réalité 'Les Trois rois' est un lieu-dit. Pour les autres, il s'agit plutôt d'une déviation de l'ancien nom de la rue 'Steertstroetjes' désignant les terres de Steert, donc plutôt un propriétaire foncier. (remark in French, as published)
