Il s'agit très certainement d'une référence à la première enceinte de Bruxelles. En effet, une braie peut désigner un pantalon, une couche, mais aussi par extension tout ce qui entoure et protège. Une des acceptions du terme désigne une ceinture de fortifications destinée à renforcer les protections contre l'ennemi. (remark in French, as published)
