Une coutume de la localité était de 'tirer un oiseau planté sur une perche hissée au sommet du clocher de l'ancienne église'. Suite aux nombreux dégâts occasionnés aux vitraux de l'église, cette coutume fut transférée sur le fort construit sur ordre du Comte de Monterrey, et les rues alentours firent hommage à cette coutume locale.
