En 1844, il est décidé à l'initiative de la Veuve Cans, d'attribuer le statut de rue à l'ancien chemin des tulipes, qui aboutissait sur le parc Tulipant. Il semblerait qu'au XVIIIe siècle, une habitation du chemin portait également ce nom. (remark in French, as published)
