Cette rue fait référence aux héros de 1830. Cependant, il pourrait s'agir de Charles de Mérode (1762 - 1830), ou d'un de ses deux fils : Frédéric (1792 - 1830) considéré comme héros de 1830 car il est décédé durant les affrontements, ou de Félix (1791 - 1857), politicien qui joua un rôle important dans la constitution du nouvel Etat.
