Cette rue fut nommée ainsi par les autorités françaises en 1798 qui réglementaient alors la ville. Un ménage fait référence à l'ensemble de bonnes pratiques organisant la vie familiale (budget, nettoyage, alimentation, etc.). Dans ce quartier populaire, il semblerait que l'intention des autorités françaises ait été éducative. (remark in French, as published)
