Le nom de cette rue rappelle la famille Deschampheleer, famille qui possédait de nombreuses parcelles et dont un des membres fût échevin de Koekelberg en 1866. Négociant en denrées coloniales.La rue s'appelait initialement rue de l'Empereur. Elle est débaptisée après la Première Guerre mondiale. (remark in French, as published)
