Le cubisme est un mouvement artistique principalement en peinture qui fut développé par Pablo Picasso dans les années précédant la Première Guerre mondiale. C'est l'architecte Victor Bourgeois qui est à l'origine de la dénomination. Ce quartier de logements ouvriers fut créé par le Comptoir National des Matériaux en 1928.
