Anciennement dénommée rue de Guerlache, sa dénomination actuelle fait toujours référence au baron de Guerlache, ancien président du Congrès national et de la Chambre des Représentants, puis premier président de la Cour de Cassation. Celui-ci fut l'instigateur de cette artère en vue de lotir sa propriété. (remark in French, as published)
