Cette rue fut nommée en l'honneur de Frans de Vriendt, aussi appelé Frans Floris, peintre né à Anvers au début du XVIe siècle. Spécialisé dans les peintures d'histoire romaniste, il peint de nombreuses oeuvres pour les habitations de la noblesse espagnole et pour le duc d'Arschot. (remark in French, as published)
