Marie-Christine d'Autriche (1742-1798) fut gouverneuse de nos régions après Charles de Lorraine, en 1780. Elle voulut faire construire un château pour elle, et jeta son dévolu sur le parc de Laeken. C'est ainsi que les bases du château royal de Laeken furent posées. (remark in French, as published)
