Les produits maraîchers issus de l'Est de Bruxelles (Schaerbeek et Evere principalement) étaient transportés dans la ville pour leur vente. Ils passaient par la Porte aux Legumes. Lorsque cette porte fut détruite, on y construisit une rue et on lui donna ce nom. (remark in French, as published)
