Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912) est un explorateur britannique du Pôle Sud. Lors de sa Seconde expédition, il emmène cinq hommes et espère être le premier à atteindre l'Antarctique, ce qui ne fut pas le cas. Tous l'équipage périt au retour de l'expédition, de froid, de faim et de fatigue. Robert Scott fut considéré en héros par les Britanniques, bien que des polémiques subsistent sur sa responsabilité dans la mort de l'équipage. (remark in French, as published)
