Il perdit prématurément son fils, Victor Semet, et décida de faire un important don à la 'Société des Habitations ouvrières de la Commune d'Ixelles', précurseur du Foyer ixellois. En 'remerciement de libéralités'et en hommage, celle-ci donna le nom de son fils à une rue. (remark in French, as published)
