Lucien Jottrand (1804-1877) est originaire de la commune et avocat. Lors des événements de 1815-1830, il sera très impliqué malgré son jeune âge. Il siégera aux Congrès National et sera parmi les plus actifs. Tout au long de sa carrière, il défendra avec beaucoup d'ardeur la langue, la culture et la population flamande. C'est également lui qui créa le drapeau belge. Entre 1855 et 1861, il sera conseiller communal de Saint-Josse. (remark in French, as published)
