Henri-Alexis Brialmont (1821-1903) était un militaire néerlandais qui se démarqua pour son génie technique. D'ouvrier agricole, il deviendra le créateur de fortifications à Anvers, Namur et Liège. Par ailleurs, il nourrissait un grand intérêt pour l'entreprise coloniale. Il entretenait une correspondance avec Léopold II et réalisa également le fort de Kinshasa. (remark in French, as published)
