Emile Deroover (?-?) était le Directeur Général de la « Caisse Générale d'Epargne et de Retraite » entre 1905 et 1934, date à laquelle il part en retraite. Auparavant, il était à l'Ecole militaire. La société en charge de la construction de ce quartier (le Comptoir National des Matériaux) a insisté pour donner ce nom à l'une des rues nouvellement créées, en 1928.
