Gustave Gilson (1859-1944) était spécialiste de la biologie marine. Ses recherches à Oostende et ses inventions furent reconnues. Il fut également directeur du Musée royal d'histoire naturelle à Bruxelles et lèguera ses collections à l'Institut des Sciences Naturelles. En 1903, il est élu conseiller communal de Jette mais n'y restera pas. (remark in French, as published)
