Warandeveld signifie le champs de garennes. 'Terrain situé entre le hameau de Helmet et le centre de Schaerbeek, au niveau du boulevard Lambermont et de l’avenue Demolder. En 1393, le patricien bruxellois Jan Utenspiegele obtint l’autorisation d’y établir une garenne (warande) pour y élever des lapins destinés à y être ensuite chassés au furet. Ce terrain boisé était situé entre le hameau de Helmet et le centre de Schaerbeek, au niveau du boulevard Lambermont et de l’avenue Demolder. Après la révolution française, la garenne fut expropriée, puis vendue à des particuliers qui la déboisèrent pour pouvoir y cultiver des champs (warandeveld = champ de garenne). Avec l’urbanisation, les champs disparurent peu à peu et la rue Warandeveld, aujourd’hui rue Jan Blockx, rappela un temps ce lieu-dit.' (remark in French, as published)
